Norbord Industries Inc. is a North American manufacturer of wood and wood composite panel products for construction and industrial uses. A wholly owned subsidiary of Nexfor Inc., Norbord’s products include oriented strand board (OSB), medium density fibreboard (MDF), hardwood plywood, spruce pine fir (SPF) lumber and I-joists.

In Ontario, Norbord operates a hardwood plywood mill in Cochrane, which has an annual production capacity of 80 million square feet (on a 3/8” basis). In 1996 the mill completed a three-year, $10 million modernization program, concluding its transformation from a commodity plywood producer to a hardwood overlay specialist. The mill produces a variety of products used for kitchen cabinets, store fixtures, institutional furniture and other millwork. In addition to its manufacturing operations, Norbord markets lumber for five partner mills.

Based in Toronto, Norbord operates 12 mills in Canada and the United States and employs approximately 1,800 people—with 300 of those in Ontario.
