Faculty of Forestry
Toronto, Ontario
Established in 1907, U of T's Faculty of Forestry is the pioneer of scientific forest management in Canada. It offers-in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts and Science-a number of undergraduate specialist and major programs in forest conservation.
"Forest conservation examines forest environments broadly in the context of national and global sustainability, management and biodiversity protection. The increasing importance of social and community issues, such as aboriginal land tenure, recreation, wilderness travel and preservation of urban green space, are combined with the biological and physical sciences to provide opportunities for excellent students to pursue interests in this critically important field. The science programs focus on forest ecology with electives in the life and physical sciences, while the humanities and social science program focuses on communal forest management and the development of forest policy, with electives in the social sciences." - U of T website
The Faculty of Forestry also offers the Master of Forest Conservation, Master of Science in Forestry and Doctor of Philosophy programs.
